ANNE DROID COMING TO A STORE NEAR YOU
For years we have been used to walking through clothing stores and
viewing with interest clothes displayed on life-like male and female
mannequins. Watch out. Now the mannequins may be watching you!
Add Anne Droid to the list of new personalities in the retailing
world. This lady mannequin, like most people, is more than you might
expect from outward appearances. Besides selling the clothes off her
back, Anne is hooked up to an intelligence system that is watching
the store via a built-in video eye. High-tech surveillance has moved
to where no mannequin has stood before. Shoplifters now have an
increasing chance of being caught.
Ms. Droid isn't hard-wired via cable as would have been the case in
ages past. She is cable-free, easy to move and operates her own
broadcasting signal. Further on in the store you might be amused by
the two kids playing with a mannequin dog. Because of the transmitting feature, Anne Droid does not stop functioning even when a
store workman carries her around the store. The whole concept of
"visual merchandising" has grown over the years and the marriage of
modern mannequins with the latest in video technology shows the
brilliance of today's innovative entrepreneurs who are putting two
and two or mannequin and video together to create new industries.
The founder of this concept is not stopping with mannequins.
President Jerry Gutierrez, of Anne Droid has been asked to put
surveillance systems in fiberglass rotating airplanes, fence posts
(for property "watch posts" instead of watch dogs) and KitKat clocks
(where both the tail and the eyes move). Gutierrez currently uses
the latest Sony camera, which utilizes the CCD (Closed-Coupled
Device) chip in lieu of the older vidcom tube.
