DOLPHINS NOW WORK WITH MAN
What if Olympic runners trained against antelopes? Wouldn't the
runners run faster? What about swimmers?
Strange tales are seeping in from southern Soviet waters. They
tell of 'The Mutants of the Black Sea".
There an obvious free-thinker has been conducting, for the past 20
years some highly innovative techniques. He is having women bear
their babies under water! This isn't that new. The advantages for
in-water birthing in reducing gravitational effects, providing a more
soothing and relaxing environment has been seen by several forward
thinking practicioners around the world for some time now. But with
dolphins in attendance!!!
Way back in the sixties Dr. John Lilly carried out extensive work
with dolphins from bases in Florida, the Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin
Islands. He is still at it today with his wife Antonietta at their
Human/Dolphin Foundation in Malibu, California. His latest techniques
with computer-assisted conversation between man and dolphin is
recorded in a short film recently previewed in Vancouver at the
Center for Enhanced Living on Columbia Street.
In Hawaii aside from the military work being done by the U.S.
Navy, Dr. Louis M. Herman at the Department of Psychology at the
University of Hawaii presented a paper at the NATO Advanced Study
Institute in Athens on his work in the same field. Dr. Herman feels
that a comprehension approach with dolphins allows better control of
results than when using the language production method. He suggests
that at some language skills represent cognitive abilities rather
than the usual acquired skills seen in humans.
